The battle has animated vigorous discussion of the 1978 statute, which requires anyone who procures work or negotiates employment contracts for clients to be a licensed agent. Although the statute was initially intended to protect the weak, some experts say it now gives agents a captive client base, enthroning them in positions of impregnable power.
“It has been clear that the Legislature should involve itself in determining whether or not the law makes sense,” said Michael Plonsker, a Los Angeles entertainment attorney who has litigated cases involving the Talent Agencies Act but isn’t involved in the current dispute.
“Agents have this monopoly,” said another entertainment attorney who requested anonymity because of professional relationships with the agencies. “[The law’s] application has expanded beyond its original function.”
Hollywood’s big four agencies — Endeavor, CAA, UTA and ICM Partners — have vehemently defended their position, saying in a strongly worded letter to the WGA this month that they would consider any attempt by the guild to delegate agent duties to other parties to be “unfair and unlawful competition.”
“We demand the immediate retraction of the WGA’s purported ‘delegation,’” the letter stated.

The first three categories are the best predictors of a win, I’m seeing way too many zeros and that includes Little Miss Clown School Grad. There is nothing remotely professional about running BC into the ground and you should be fired, that is all.
Talent Agents work in tandem with Managers, Public Relations firms and Publicists. I know Tracey, Tara, Karon etc. are going to do everything in their power to shirk responsibility for this fiasco but that won’t fly. Not anymore, everyone involved has to deal with this problem and fix it stat. We’ve seen a direct correlation with their presence, BC shilling the sham in lieu of his work and SoFail going rogue. At SDCC16, for example, the sudden shift in focus was so obvious that it was like a switch was flipped as soon as Tara showed up. That’s no coincidence and Adam Ackland only cares about SM. So much so in fact that we were told that he was instrumental in convincing BC to go back on his word and disobey Disney. This after the Rat spent a considerable amount time and resources trying to get BC out of his predicament in the safest way possible. Now, why would Adam be against that unless that put him at odds with UTA and Team Soso to a lesser extent? Shame on all of you, take that hot potato and choke on it!
Naturally, the sponsor is going to show their ambassador, but it’s been on social media where it belongs. Also, I’d say UTA is there because of SM, not because of BC personally (agents aren’t managers). UTA has a film department that helps smaller production companies negotiate deals and they’ve been pretty successful, helping to close films like “I, Tonya” and CBMYN, and also–yep–Ironbark. I’m pretty sure the only reason all the coverage is on Social Media is because someone made sure Team Zero couldn’t get it put anywhere else. Everything you are saying is correct, but you are forgetting how quickly Zero will go rogue. Keeping her in check is like herding cats wired on catnip. It’s gonna be all hands on deck.
