Introjects sometimes not only act like the abuser, they actually believe they are that person.
Often, alters within the survivor – including the introject alter – believe that the introject alter is not an alter but is the real external person.
This type of introject enforces the external abuser’s wishes upon the other alters when the abuser is absent. Some introjects report back to the abuser as informers.
