Well SH exhibits all the signs of NPD but that can be co-morbid with other EBDs so that would explain her affect being “off”. We also know that she has a substance abuse problem. Now she might be a low-functioning mess but she knows exactly what she is doing. People like her feign helplessness at times only to latch on to codependents and drain the life out of them. You know, the one where the angels parted the clouds in a glorious moment of melodic, celestial descension, touching down and instilling divine insight into the narcissist’s brain, revealing how much they need you in their life and how sorry they are for all the pain they’ve caused.
But, it’s all a scheme to destroy you.
Re narcissists emulate and copy: It is almost terrifying how they do it. They are just some sort of mix between a sponge and mirror. Absorbing every single word you say and emulating/mirroring what u just said and did. And some times it is done straight away, right after u did/said something. Like in your face and u look at them & say ‘Is there an echo here? Cos someone is repeating verbatim what I just said!’
Indeed and the reason why they do it is two-fold. They need to create a mask of likeable normalcy as the OP said but they also do it to lower their target’s guard via mirroring:

The reason why I’ve drawn parallels between Sophie Hunter, Meghan Markle (and Lucy Cork to a lesser extent) is because they all exhibit similar behavior patterns. All of them use and abuse high-value men to get ahead in the most shameless way possible. They also seem to have an insatiable need for admiration and prestige that is the hallmark of NPD. LC had Tom Cruise in her viewfinder but he rejected her so she groomed Henry Cavill instead. They will pay people to talk them up to no end. SoFail’s “Everyone wanted to sleep with her (at Oxford).” springs to mind. Did you see how SH was drooling over Andrew Murray? It was so obvious and don’t forget that she had tried to find a bigger fish a week before the ShamWedding to BC. Meghan Markle has used tabloids to invent an entire fictional saga involving PH in the last few months. The ‘Romance Scam’ post lays out their methods in great detail, read it before you come back here and make a fool out of yourself again.
