As y’all probably know by now I collect soundtracks and Elfman is one of my favorite film composers. I became a fan of his after listening to his score for ‘Edward Scissorhands’. Both he and James Newton Howard are experts at using the pentatonic scale, exotic instruments and choral elements to convey the otherworldly. I read that Michael Giacchino couldn’t score the DS sequel because he’s too busy ATM and while he is also quite good Elfman’s style may actually be a better fit.
