“Particularly kind men and women are often targeted by selfish ‘users’ and ‘takers’. Who better to satisfy their ongoing hunger for getting what they want, than a ‘giver’? When you are kind and compassionate, you tend to feel more for vulnerable people. And that includes those who have perfected the illusion of appearing vulnerable! Don’t allow yourself to become a magnet for these men and women. Unscrupulous ‘takers’ are fantastic at making you feel sorry for them (often when they absolutely don’t deserve it). And they’ll milk someone’s generosity for as long as they can get away with it. Once found out, they simply move on to their next unsuspecting victim. They also rely on the ‘giver’s’ high degree of trust to give them the benefit of any doubts. Indeed it’s common for particularly kind people to feel guilty for even entertaining ideas that they are even being taken for a ride! Because a kind person thinks the best of others, he or she is unlikely to suspect they are being played. Be alert and listen more to your gut instinct. If you sense that someone is trying to take advantage of you, don’t let them.”
