And last time I heard, 40K was still pretty darn satirical.
Also, no one – nobody – is required to “address” “problematic” elements depicted in their work.
that’s the point. the main memes of wh40k is that, unlike star trek or star wars or halo, it’s one of those super cool and badass settings that you DO NOT want to live in.
Even in Halo, you’re either a citizen of a dogmatic theocracy, one of the soldiers fighting a hopless war, one of the people they might kill at any moment, and/or someone who might get black bagged by ONI at any moment.
Glassed planets have bad records.
Hopeless war? Wait didnt they win against the covenants? Im not that knowledgeable on halo after 3
Humans “won” – more like a peace treaty – because they found a series of items that undermined the entire Covenant faith, and caused a schism. Before that, they were losing. And both Halopedia and Halo Fandom list the victory as Pyrrhic, meaning it was almost as bad as a loss.
Half of humanity is apparently dead. Civilian losses on Earth alone were in the billions, enough to bring them down to about 200 million, though that may have been retconned.
“Warhammer 40K is riddled with problematic elements”
fuck dude it sure is
How in the hell are people just now discovering that as a concept?
