I believe he wants to protect his beloved parents from going through a scandal publicly. It makes a difference if people just talk or if it’s a fact that your son is a big fat liar. He always wanted to make them proud. He might grief deeply over his faults that have an effect on them, too. I just hope he’s at peace with them.
