He could very well be trying to do that. His (great?) grandpa was involved in WWI and diplomacy in Turkey, I believe…and he does dabble in Buddhism. If that IS what he’s doing, he’d do a better job of it by getting out of the sham and stop the pretentious, shallow good deeds and dig deep. He has the capacity, and some say, the calling to do amazing things for others. But he has to get over his anxiety and he has to do the hard things.
Benedict certainly isn’t doing anything to overcome his bad karma by lying and engaging in even worse deeds. Increasing your karmic debt only results in spiritual devolution…
As to why Benedict appears in so many period dramas? Because he looks like Old Money 😂? On a serious note I’ve already explained why Mr. Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy is more than he appears to be.
