In the Radio Times interview, Ben says he’s never been addicted to anything. Yeah, right. I think this whole zen meditation thing is him trying to control his demons. But recovery isn’t about control. I’ve been sober for 20 years (AA/NA program) and control has nothing to do with it. It’s about surrender, letting go. And I honestly don’t see that in him right now.

gatorfisch:

Indeed. You have to let go and let God. Or Buddha, or the Universe, whatever. And you have to come to terms with and accept your demons, too. You can’t just overcompensate in other areas to make yourself feel better. It doesn’t work that way.

Erm, BC’s talked plenty about smoking pot, cigarettes etc. We know he’s had substance abuse issues before and that he got help for that. His drinking post OP breakup was OOC and y’all saw what happened during the TIG campaign. So while BC’s no RDJ he should follow his example and own up to his mistakes. No one buys the tea-totaler BS his PR’s pushing, no one. It makes him look disingenuous, instead say something funny like, “I’ve traded nicotine for caffeine.” He’d imply that he’s experienced addiction without getting into hot water ;)…
