Sometimes people don’t want to admit they were wrong or don’t want to admit that others were right and had them pegged all along, they are willing to go down with a burning ship just so they don’t have to admit it. I hope that’s not what’s happening here. It can be hard to admit mistakes or say ‘yeah, those people were right about it all along ‘ but it’s better in the long run. Much better than chickening out and clinging to a lie by his fingernails. Trying to save face is going to bite him.
