Matthew Rycroft is a British diplomat who is a Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary at the Department for International Development (DFID). He admits that they’re all “sitting around” doing nothing. Nowadays, posing for a picture and posting it on social media counts as “activism”. In reality, it actually achieves nothing except drawing some attention on oneself.
