I’ve notice this too and am racking my brains trying to figure out why there’s this double standard.
I mean I criticized Kate’s jeggings, work ethic, and silly wiglets for years. I’m not going to turn around now and cheer Meghan’s ripped jeans, five-day photoshoots, and raggedy extensions.
Erdem and Self-Portrait are still fugly no matter who wears them. And I freaked when I saw that Cartier necklace and the Prada dress, so I don’t think I can just gloss over the hideously expensive, see-through chicken dress.
It think Kate claiming to “change the conversation on mental health” after a few meetings is ridiculous, so I’m not going to swoon when Meghan claims three stupid photoshoot vacations add up to a “humanitarian” resume. If anything, Kate’s claim is less absurd than Megha’s. She’s worked harder at the mental health stuff than Meghan has at whatever-”passion”-cause-fits-her-vacay-schedule-this-year, and KP actually has YouGov data to back them up.
I thought the Middletons were out of control on the press front, leaking crap to the press, but that absolutely pales next to Meghan’s press drive. I’ve been side-eyeing Uncle Gary for years, so I can’t just close my eyes to the horror show that is the Markles.
And most of the mean gossip about Kate come from the DM and the other tabloids. It’s amazing to me how people will quote a fifteen-year-old, thinly-sourced DM story about Kate like it’s gospel, and dismiss a well-documented DM story about Meghan in the same breath.
So I’m still trying to figure it out. But that’s why I don’t really understand why people are throwing around the “hater” lable. If Kate showed up in a bathrobe at an event I’d be mocking her too.
