I think he said they were friends as a way to say he knew him. I’ve always thought BC just had one of those personalities that’s maybe a little over nice. Easily friendly maybe. I know a lot of people like that IRL. ‘I’ve met you more than once and can remember your name; we’re friends!’ It’s kind of childish and I remember outgrowing it around middle school, but I also know people who never really figure out the difference between friends and acquaintances.
