Let me just say how much I love this commenter under the Variety article:

There is no career evidence to support the notion, that aside from her spouse’s connections (as a company OWNER), opportunities like this would have presented themselves to her. There’s also nothing to indicate she brings a special expertise to the project, for which someone else with actual EXPERIENCE as a producer couldn’t provide. An unvarnished case of nepotism is hardly the kind of thing to prove “haters wrong”. Far more likely, it will confirm some of their suspicions.
