I’ve spent the last day pondering about this shitfest and about his PR and about everything you’ve taught us about narcs and what I’m beginning to wonder is this…..
You’ve made it clear that once a narc has their claws in you there is no way you can escape from them without being damaged by them in one way or another. An exit strategy from a narc is one big exercise in damage limitation – but the exit strategy is gonna hurt you either way.
This means Ben is going to be damaged by her whichever way this ends – so the end is only ever going to be about damage limitation – not damage removal. Maybe bringing her down in flames with a scandal that ruins her but burns him too is, in the long run, the least damaging exit for him. The other option – forcing a nice ‘civilised’ public split – only leaves her free to run riot with his future, his good name and his reputation forever and also leaves her free to damage and destroy him at will afterwards for as long as she pleases.
So, like I say, I don’t know if there is any way to split ‘nicely’ from lady narc and also ensure she is guaranteed to disappear forever and do no more harm to poor Ben. If someone doesn’t discredit her now as a shameless, manipulative fraud and a liar, she can live off this forever. There’s no stopping her pulling out a child for the next 20 years, tying herself to him and living off his name and capitalising on the association – and if she chooses to do this he will never be free of her. So, looking at it this way, maybe the scandal IS the best and least damaging way out for him.
