If this man is a medical doctor, he’s a dick. More worried about costs to the NHS and UK tax payers than helping refugees. These people are dying FFS.
But, him being a conservative dick aside, PR, my oh my, he makes some interesting points about your client’s family’s medical care that makes him look like a hypocritical twat to the average Joe Wanker.
And it’s typical Conservative Talking Points. No matter what country. Reminds me of “Obamacare will bankrupt the country!” or “Obamacare will drive up health care costs!”…even though that was a total lie. Eyeroll.
He does have a point though. One of my cousins is a GP, he’s told me similar stories. The community clinic that he works at is chronically underfunded and understaffed. So before allowing tens or hundreds of thousands of qualifying asylum seekers the UK government has to increase the budget for social services. The current infrastructure is inadequate so taking in that many refugees all at once is easier said than done. BC and ‘Leet Lefties’ like him (moderate-left here) aren’t ‘raising awareness’ as much as raising their own approval ratings. That’s without taking into account the other ‘little favours’ (like honour noms *cough*) that the well-connected often do for one another. The newcomers will be pitted against the working class people already in the UK, while the politicos, celebs and assorted talking heads keep living in their Stepford Bubble. Creating dissension, lowering wages and depopulating Syria all form part of a much larger agenda here. I wonder if that hypocritical MP was EM…
